Blower Door Testing
The Blower Door Test has been developed to determine the rate of air leakage and the air-tightness of a building. National, State, and Local building codes have established an acceptable range of air-leakage from air-conditioned spaces. The Blower Door Test gathers pressure readings to determine a buildings’ infiltration ratio and that ratio is compared to acceptable building code ranges.
Duct Leakage Testing
AKA the ‘Duct Blaster’ test.
The Duct Leakage test is to evaluate how effective your duct work is at holding air. Inadequately sealed ductwork can cause uneven air distribution throughout the building resulting in less effiency of the HVAC system and higher energy costs.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging technology utilizes infrared light energy to detect heat emissions from any object that is above absolute zero in temperature and converts those variations of temperature readings into a colorful light display visible to the human eye. Colder temps display along a blue/violet spectrum while warmer temps display along the orange/red spectrum. This technology is quite useful in identifying where air leaks are occuring.
Manual J Load Calculations
Another service we offer is the Manual J Load Calculations sheet for proper sizing of residential heating and cooling equipment. The Manual J calculations are used to determine the amount of BTU capacity needed to adequetly heat and cool a building. Once the BTU capacity is known, a suitable size HVAC unit can be selected.
